Carolina Takes Game One

by Mike Basile

Harrington De: The battle of the Thunder was set to take place in Delaware, The Thunder, and the Thunderbirds. It was Trevor Babin for Delaware and Chris Paulin for Carolina. The goalies were stealing the show in period one with big saves at both ends of the ice. There was only one goal to speak of in period one and it came off the stick of Dawson baker with just over three minutes left. Babin stopped 17/18 and Paulin stopped all nine that came his way.

If you were looking for goals you found them in period two! The period started with an early goal from Dan Cangelosi tying the game at one. Charlie Bedard scored his second pro goal to make it a 2-1 Thunder lead. The Thunderbirds then went on to score three straight goals. Schnapp, McLean, and Buttitta were the goal scorers. Ryan Marker added a late tally in period three to make it 4-3 Thunderbirds after two.

The Thunderbirds took control of the game just past the halfway point of period three. Gus Ford scored two goals in 15 seconds to put the game away. Carolina went on to win 6-3.
