South Bound

The Delaware Thunder have been playing some of their best hockey of the season. They are feeling good as they make the trip down to Carolina. Both teams are coming off a good weekend series. The Thunder split with the Danbury Hat Tricks who are the top team in the east, and the Thunderbirds took down Mentor in their two matchups. This should be a fun matchup in Winston-Salem.

The Delaware Thunder head to Carolina for their lone trip their this season. The first two meetings between these teams were played at the the Thunderdome, and Carolina got the better of Delaware. Since that meeting the Thunder have been a completely different team. The Thunder have added plenty of new faces and have found success scoring in many different ways. Delaware also just added a very skilled playmaker in Kristers Bormanis. Bormanis has put up 12 points in his 21 games so far this season. Aaron Taylor continues to impress for this Thunder team, he even added an assist to his stats this weekend. Taylor and the Thunder look to stay hot against the league’s best.

Much like last year, Carolina continues to impress and have the league’s top spot. Much like last season they have done it with solid play all around and a very reliable defense and goaltending duo. The most impress stat you will see from the Thunderbirds is their 90 percent PK. They also have no troubles putting the puck in the net averaging 4.7 goals per game. They newly acquired goaltender Jacob Mullen from Battle Creek, who pitched a shutout in his first game with the Thunderbirds. Carolina has won 2 straight and looks to win a couple more this weekend.
