Three on the Road

by Mike Basile

The Delaware Thunder are looking to get back to their winning ways with a busy weekend ahead. The Thunder will start their weekend off in Watertown with back to back games against the Wolves. They will finish up the three-game set with The Elmira Enforcers Sunday afternoon.

Watertown has found success against the Thunder this season. The Wolves are 7-1 against the Thunder so far this season and sit in third place of the Eastern Division with 66 points. Delaware is sitting in 5th in the Eastern Division with 24 points. Watertown acquired Ryan Marker from Delaware a couple of weeks back, and now have 3 scorers with 60 plus points. Marker Powell and Boudreau take care of the offensive duties for this Wolves team. Jeremy Pominville has been very solid in net for the Wolves posting a 3.52 GAA and a 9.05 Save percentage. Coming into this weekend's action the Wolves have dropped 2 straight.

Delaware will be happy to see Anton Kalinin back in the lineup this weekend as he meets against his former team. Kalinin has 27 points in the 28 games that he has played this season. The Thunder have had trouble putting the puck in the net, and hope their crafty forward can help. On the back-end, Delaware brings a plethora of size. Anthony Pisano has been a HUGE addition to this team. He has 2 points in his 9 games and his size makes other teams think twice before going to the corner. Delaware will play Friday and Saturday in Watertown, and Sunday in Elmira.

The Enforcers have been playing great of late and are 8-2 over their last ten games. The addition of Tyler Gjurich has been big for their offense. Elmira has also had success against the Thunder posting a 4-1 record against them. Elmira is led by Ahmed Mahfouz who has 71 points in just 31 games. Mahfouz and company look to stay hot against the Thunder after they meet with Mentor Friday and Saturday.
